Training
The MRN specialize in creating, training and running teams of staff to support clinical trials across multiple sites. All team members work to the same high standards, are committed to the objectives of faster recruitment and increased retention of patients and are carefully managed for quality and consistency.
Site Nurse Support
All site support staff are carefully selected against a series of criteria set by the customer, detailing the nursing competencies and experience required. Sometimes we need fully-fledged Research Nurses in a particular therapeutic area, but just as often we are looking simply for therapeutic area knowledge or drug knowledge.
All our Site Support nurses are trained in GCP with annual updates, making them ideal for site support roles; we aim to deliver the right skills for the right job.
Home Trial Support
Our Home Trial Support staff are trained in the relevant GCP areas for all the activities they undertake. As these are usually narrow in focus – taking a blood sample or administering an infusion may be their only task – this enables an effective tailoring of training to the actual need, preventing wastage of time or money on unnecessary knowledge about areas for which they have no responsibility.
Training is therefore focused on what they DO have to do – in detail. A full nursing manual is created by our in house Nurse Managers taking the nurses through a step-by-step guide of all their activities in the home visit. The nurses are then trained in all they have to know about the drug using sponsor-generated materials. All the logistics, patient centered activities and data collection is covered, as well as sample handling, use of devices, etc… All out HTS nurses have 24 hour on call support from our HQ team. Immediately prior to their first patient visit the Nurse Manager talks them through the visit. Once at the patient’s home they can call at any time for advice or to discuss next steps, how to fill out forms, etc. Once the data is collected it is reviewed in house at the MRN HQ and feedback given on quality.
All MRN clinical staff for both home and site services have annual Basic Life Support training and the Home Trial Support staff are able to carry oxygen and anaphylaxis drugs as required.
