Services > Home Trial Support
As long as equipment is portable, most assessments can be done in the home - blood and other sampling, respiratory function, cognative testing, ECG, any test using a Point of Care device, etc.
The commonest activities we undertake are
• Drug administration
• Concomitant medication administration
• Blood sampling and centrifuging
• Patient assessment and data recording (paper/eCRF)
• Clinical efficacy assessments
• Safety monitoring
• Drug accountability
In our experience, 30% to 50% of trial visits are simple and repetative, which would normally be conducted by the nurse in the site and yet are feasible to conduct in the home. Such visits make up a huge burden on the patient, which can be removed by sending the nurse to their home, improving patient recruitment and retention.
In the UK, the MRN has access to more than 400 full time and 100 bank nurses.
In Continental Europe we operate with large nursing providers who together can source thousands of nurses across many countries. Team leaders in each country must have clinical trial experience and speak English as well as the local language to provide day to day direction to the nursing teams. The MRN provide the home care experience in both training and ongoing management of the teams activities, based on tried and tested SOPs covering the nursing activities in the home as well as the trial regulations.
In the USA and Canada we have partner organisations with whom we already work in harmony, some of whom also specialise in Home Trial Support – a function that has existed in this region for some time. As with Europe, via our partner organisations, we have access to thousands of nurses, many of who have experience in delivering care to the patient in their own home. Our relationships ensure a seamless project with all countries working to the same procedures and methodologies.
